Overview
What: School Based Inclusion Program
Three Graces will partner with schools across the Greater Houston area to create an inclusive campus through education, integrated activities and community partnership. This is a tiered program. Schools may choose to complete one, two or three trainings with activities each semester.
Who: Public and Private K-12 schools across the Greater Houston and surrounding areas
When: Meet at the beginning of each school semester.
Where: Virtually and In Person
School administration and/or student body leadership will meet with Three Graces and develop a custom plan for their school to reach Inclusion. Three Graces will meet with each school to discuss education and activities for each semester and make sure they are meeting benchmarks. These meetings will be set once the initial schools have been chosen. All trainings, activities, lessons, etc. will be provided by Three Graces.
Guidelines
The objective of the program is to work with school administration, staff and students to create an inclusive campus. Educate staff, students and the supporting community on intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Make the campus more inclusive through integrated activities and support open discussions between the IDD students and the general student population.
Create resources for the schools to access educational materials, programs, activities, and educational speakers on the topics of awareness, acceptance and inclusion.
Upon completion of the program, Three Graces will award each school a grant to be used towards future activities and a grant to the school’s IDD classrooms to be used for needed educational materials.
Three Graces will select schools based on an application process that will open in January each year and conclude August 31st. Once selected, Three Graces staff and/or volunteers will meet with each school and develop a personalized plan to meet goals of awareness, acceptance and inclusion on their campus.
By engaging staff, students and the community around each school, we break down the walls of discrimination many people with IDD experience. Once the school has completed the program, Three Graces will provide a grant to the school and remain a resource for any continued education and engagement in the realm of inclusion.
Schools may apply and go through the program multiple times.
Download the application and submit to grant@three-graces.org. The school may attach any additional materials it would like, such as photos, videos, etc. The only required document to be considered is the application. Deadline to submit applications is August 31, 2024 for the 2024-2025 School Year.
